??? Following up on my previous article yesterday about #Work and #Workplace #Reinvention, in the #QAIMETA era, the very concepts of “work” and “workplace” need redefining and reinventing. They are obsolete, in any traditional sense. Here’s why.
??? Workplace Revolutionary Cycles
??? Work has been transformed through the long cycle of #tech #revolutions from the Agricultural Age through the various phases of the Industrial Revolution and Digitization. And next comes the QAIMETA era of Quantum Advanced Intelligence (#QAI) and the #Metaverse.
??? From Decentralized Villages to Centralized Urban Buildings
??? In the Agricultural era, work was decentralized on the #family #farm where a rural village lifestyle required people to work from home 24/7 every single day. That did not change until the textile mills came along and then #manufacturing production lines, which gradually centralized work in an environment where people worked alongside and in collaboration with machines.
??? The same happened in parallel with #office #work, centralized into buildings and then what I call “paper shuffling factories in the sky”. Initially, office work was clerical work, but this also was automated in phases with calculators, typewriters, word processors, desktop computers, the Internet, and eMail.
??? Decentralization Back to Home and Remotely
??? In turn, however, these technologies made centralized office work needless, and the #Covid epidemic proved what others like me have been saying was inevitable. In the #digital era, everything gets #reversed, back to #decentralized. You don’t physically need to “go” anywhere for most products and services. They come to you, anyplace, anytime.
??? That will prevalently be the case in the evolving #QAIMETA #future. Work will be done #anytime and #anyplace, #globally and #locally, via advanced digital technologies of various kinds. Moreover, Quantum Advanced Intelligence (#QAI) and robotics and various smart applications will #displace most human #workers and/or work alongside others as #humanoids.
??? Work will be #virtual and we will eventually live a decentralized family-based #leisure #society via the Metaverse. In this environment the concept of Work-Life Balance gets reversed to Life-Work Integration. Life and #Life #Purpose come first.
??? In the QAIMETA future, the concept of work and workplace will have the following characteristics, most of which are already emerging.
?? AI Enables or Displaces Employees
??? While AI will displace a large percentage of the workforce, it brings many efficient and value-added abilities to other employees in every business function, in every economic sector.
??? There are no exceptions, and QAI will reinforce and firmly establish the trend to remote work as the norm for all continuing employees.
??? As such, AI becomes a workplace and employee necessity and employment entitlement. And AI and Quantum will make those upskilled employees far more strategic and self-decisive.
??? QAIMETA will reinvent all operations across every business in every industry. Digital Twins, Low Code, and RPA apps are required to operate in real-time 24/7, across the world.
?? QAI Global Hybrid Workforce
??? At minimum, hybrid work will prevail globally alongside totally working from home.
??? This requires a cohesive and global Diverse, Equitable, Inclusive, and Belonging (DEIB) culture. Metaverse apps can achieve this by facilitating virtual team dynamics across time zones and continents.
??? As well, a large percentage of employees and freelancers alike will pursue gig work as part of their new digital Metaverse lifestyle.
??? Career paths thus need to be almost totally digital, dynamic and agile, as well as personalized. Indeed, employers should offer side-gig opportunities in fields that excite their digital Meta-life interests.

??? For all ongoing employees, employers need to use AI to deliver workplace productivity and interaction, plus real-time personalized training and development programs for them.
??? In that regard, all work is now digital in varying degrees, and all employees need a satisfying digital #EX in order to deliver a digital #CX to digital customers.
??? In fact, EX and CX #merge, because, after all, every employee is also a customer somewhere.
??? In this world, micro-management must be eliminated to allow employee discretion and recognize the shift from work-life balance to digital life-work integration.
