??? A new technique in #quantum #storage that operates at #room #temperature could pave the way for a #Quantum #Internet.

??? Scientists stored and retrieved two #photonic #qubits — made from #photons (or light particles) — at the quantum level.

??? The next stage is to develop a method for detecting when a quantum signal is ready to be retrieved, without destroying the properties of the signal through direct observation.

??? Achieving this would pave the way for quantum #repeaters, which can extend the range of a quantum signal. This would be a key precursor to a large-scale quantum internet.

??? Quantum repeaters require two sources of #entangled photon pairs separated by a distance — where one photon is sent towards a quantum memory store, and the other photon is sent in the opposite direction (see above image).

??? It’s all part of “AI at the edge,” running large language models (#LLMs) and related software on personal devices locally, rather than in the Cloud.

?? #METAVERSE: #Fashion #Avatars

??? Avatars have 3 main characteristics, or options. Unfortunately, fashion and other apps use the Fake option (below).

1. #Digital #Representative: Avatars are digital 3D interactive representations of Metaverse users in a virtual Mixed Reality world.
2. #Fake #Resemblance: While avatars can reflect real-world appearance, users can be a mythical creature or a historical figure. This raises issues about fakes and authenticity.
3. #Virtual #Body: Unlike profile facial images, avatars can have a virtual body that moves and interacts with others. This again raises issues about fakery and even danger to other participants, such as sexual and other attacks.
