Perfumery Museum Expansion

In a harmonious blend of culture and olfactory delight, Qatar America Institute for Culture (QAIC) celebrated the soft opening of our Perfumery Museum Expansion, leaving more than 200 attendees dazzled by the scents and stories that filled the air. The event, held on the first Friday of September in collaboration with ArtWalk Dupont’s First Friday, marked another success for QAIC’s mission to foster cultural exchange and appreciation.?

The Art of Diplomacy Open Call

Qatar America Institute for Culture is?pleased to be participating in the first annual Gulf Studies Symposium, hosted at Georgetown University. QAIC will be directing the conference workshop, “The Art of Diplomacy: Cultural Diplomacy of Gulf States.” The workshop will explore how culture strategically fosters international alliances. We invite all interested in participating in the workshop to submit an abstract and application via the link below. ?

Announcing IMPART Summit 2023

The Qatar America Institute for Culture (QAIC) is thrilled to announce the 2023 IMPART Summit and Design Festival, an eagerly anticipated annual "Congress for Creatives” set to take place from October 16th-22nd in Washington, D.C. At the very heart of the 2023 IMPART Summit lies the celebration of the dynamic exchange between Qatari, Arab, and American artists and storytellers. Distinguished guests and speakers such as H.H. Intisar Al Sabah, renowned designer Naeem Khan, Arab hip-hop artists by Nas Jota, Mohammed Al Matwi of The Perfume Factory, Ghanim Al Ghanim of AlHosh Gallery, and many others are among the confirmed attendees for the opening night and IMPART Auction and Benefit Party on October 20. QAIC Updates

QAIC will be participating in Art All Night

QAIC will be participating in Art All Night Dupont this Saturday, September 30th, from 7 PM-12 AM. Inspired by the ancient art of desert navigation, QAIC will transform one of our galleries into a desert using décor. Visitors of Art All Night will be invited to make the sky glow, by placing glow-in-the-dark stars and planets on the walls. By the end of the evening, the room will glow as if on a starry night.

October First Friday – IMPART Exhibition Soft Opening

On Friday, October 6th, QAIC will unveil the new 2023 IMPART Exhibition at our Soft Opening during ArtWalk Dupont. The 2023 IMPART Artists Grant Exhibition showcases the latest creations from the three distinguished winners of our annual grant program. The exhibition will feature works by Salma Hassaan (California), Randa F. Malkawi (Virginia), and Farjana Salahuddin (Doha, Qatar).

QAIC Director of Programs named to “40 Under 40”

QAIC’s Director of Programs, Laila Abdul-Hadi Jadallah, has been named one of Middle East Policy Center's 40 Under 40 Awardees. This honor recognizes the breadth of cultural, economic, and political relationships between the United States and countries of the Middle East with awardees from a variety of professional backgrounds including academia, business, culture, and diplomacy.

VCUArts Qatar at ARS Electronica

VCUarts Qatar is showcasing progressive concepts that enhance new technologies to address complex social issues at Ars Electronica. Titled Meta-Functions of Cultural Production, the institute’s 10 works intertwine art, design, science, and technology in the exploration of new ways to respond to the ecosystems of?Qatar?and the larger Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) region. QAIC looks forward to continuing to support and amplify the works of VCUarts students, staff, and faculty.

US Embassy Doha Announces 2023 IVLP Impact Award?

The US Embassy Doha announced Wadha Nasser Al Jabor as the winner of the 2023 International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Impact Award. The award will bring Al Jabor’s peer-to-peer education project called “STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) for All” to life in Qatar. Ms. Al Jabor is the director of Wijdani Aseel, a national volunteering organization based in Qatar that supported QAIC in multiple activations including the USA Pavilion during the 2022 World Cup as well as TEDinArabic in 2023.

Museum of Palestinian People hosts Book Launch at QAIC

In partnership with the?Museum of Palestinian People?(MPP), we welcomed internationally acclaimed Palestinian author,?Reem Kassis, who unveiled her very first children’s book,?We Are Palestinian. This beautifully illustrated nonfiction book is a vibrant journey through Palestinian history, culture, and age-old traditions.?
