Q&A with Victoria Makhuvha, Digital Delivery Coordinator (Western Cape)

Civil Engineering Technician?Victoria Makhuvha joined our Western Cape Region in January 2022 as a digital delivery coordinator.?She recently concluded her Autodesk Professional Certification and is in her final year of her?BSc in Construction Management.

What is the best thing about your job?

“The best part about my job is having the opportunity to work with and learn from different professionals from various organizations in the industry. I am constantly learning new and innovative ways to assist my team through implementing digital processes for the benefit of our projects.

“Being part of the successful BIM implementation on a number of projects over the past five years has seen me gather some valuable experience, both in engineering consulting and in the construction sector.?The most challenging aspect of digital transformation in any industry is getting people on board. Introducing new systems will always meet with reservations – until the benefits of introducing digital solutions is seen – then, they don’t look back so easily. There is great satisfaction to be found in playing a part in assisting my team to successfully integrate digital technology into their daily activities.?

“In other words, one of the best things about my job is that I am witnessing the culture shift towards digital tools and digital transformation first-hand.”

What are your greatest achievements to date???

“I think that my?greatest achievement is having been able to balance my full-time job and part-time studies for the last three and a half years."

What brings you joy?

“Achieving goals that have pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone.”

Who do you look up?

“I used to watch my mother work hard to achieve all her professional goals, and she inspired me to do the same. Still today she continues to reach for more.”

What do you aspire to?

“Professionally, I aspire to make significant contributions to the successful implementation of building information management systems across all the projects I am involved in. Personally, I aspire to inspire positive change in myself and others.”
