What is your name and job title?

My name is Martina Selvey and I am a Solicitor here at KV.

What attracted you to study and work in Law?

I guess I always saw Law as an intellectual challenge that I really enjoyed but also as an opportunity to be a part of the solution to clients' problems and make legal services more accessible to clients. It’s really nice to be able to simplify a complex process for a client who might see the legal realm as something that’s really daunting and difficult to navigate on their own. It is very rewarding to assist people through legal processes to achieve their goals, especially if it’s something that’s incredibly important to them and that could impact their lives in a significant way.

What skills are you looking forward to learning at KV?

Definitely to enhance my advocacy skills, which relates to representing clients in court, negotiations and settlements. Strong advocacy is such a core part of being a successful lawyer, and I’m eager to refine those techniques to better serve our clients. Also, since being at KV, I have discovered a passion for employment law. I’m excited to deepen my expertise in employment law, learning more about both the technical aspects and the practical strategies that can make a meaningful difference for clients in this area.

What do your days off look like when you're not at work?

On my days off, you’ll usually find me catching up with friends and family or hanging out with my three cats—Jeannie, Mr. Darcy, and Bertram. They’re quite the characters and keep me entertained! With summer just around the corner, I’m also looking forward to plenty of beach days on the weekend, soaking up the sun. It’s the perfect way to recharge.
