Q&A with Pheladi Chiloane, Financial Manager

Meet Pheladi Chiloane, our Corporate Services, South Africa Financial Manager: Group Finance. She joined the group as a senior accountant for the Inland Region in September 2018. In 2019 she moved across to Corporate Services, again as a senior accountant, and was promoted to financial manager in December 2019.?

What are the best things about your job?

“I enjoy the technical aspects of my job; they are mentally challenging and encourage continuous learning and development, which keeps me sharp and relevant in my field.”

What are your greatest achievements to date?

“To be honest, although I had always wanted to join a listed company group and be part of the group reporting process at some point in my future, I didn’t think I would get there this fast. Being in the right place, at the right time really accelerated things for me, and I would say that is my biggest achievement to date.”

“In terms of sporting achievements… clearly, I live a boring life, as I can think of none of these. I think though, that there have been a lot of small victories along the way, that have led me thus far.

What brings you joy?

“Living life well: If it be work, then it means doing my work well; if it be my faith, then it means pleasing God; if it be personal then it means handling my personal life well.”

Who do you look up to???

“There’s no specific person that I look up to – I admire different things about different people. So perhaps I can answer with what characteristics I look up to in people???These would be excellence and integrity – they catch my attention all the time.”

What do you aspire to?

“I really do need to come up with new aspirations as I’m currently pretty much living my dream. Really! If put on the spot, I would have to say just striving to do better and be better…

Anything else you’d like to add?

“I am glad I’m a woman????I think being a man is hard, LOL, those guys have it tough and perhaps we don’t appreciate them enough. So, during this Women’s Month, I am sending a shout out to all the honest, hard-working men out there, minding their own business, taking care of their families, and just doing their best! We appreciate you!”
