Q&A: Meet CRG's First Summer Intern, Nikhil

What's your background?

I am 18 years old and was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in California and have just graduated from high school in early June of 2023. Throughout school, I was particularly passionate about my math, biology, and computer science classes and hope to continue to focus on those areas in university. For the past two years, I have worked as a research assistant at Stanford University on a COVID-19 detection project where I developed models using machine learning with Python and also worked on data analytics. Outside of the classroom, I was a varsity competitive swimmer for 12 years (just finished my final season) and I specialized in the 100 and 200 butterfly.?

What are your plans for university and beyond?

Beginning in the fall of 2023, I will be attending Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where I plan to major in biological statistics and data science. I chose to attend Cornell because of its vast research opportunities in the area of biological statistics and also to experience a new lifestyle and climate on the east coast as I have spent my entire life living on the west coast. At the moment, I hope to go into consulting after Cornell as well as join some consulting groups on campus to gain more experience and create connections with others who are interested in the field.

Why are you interested in consulting?

As I enter university, I have begun thinking about what I want to pursue as a career. After researching various fields, I found consulting to be very enticing given the fact that one can work with a variety of companies and see which area they are most passionate about. I was also very excited about the collaboration-based nature of consulting as I have always worked best in a team and believe that bringing together ideas and suggestions from a group of people always yields the best results. I am thrilled to be working with the Consulting Resource Group this summer and look forward to learning from everyone on the team.
