We sat down and had a chat with Heman Kassan, Chief Commercial Officer, Technodyn International, and asked him about the value and role of BI and analytics. Asking only two pertinent questions, and here is what he had to say!

Q: What is the real value of analytics and BI?

?Heman: Big data and analytics are the cornerstone of both customer experience and operational intelligence. When used to create a view of your business, they can align operational outputs to business objectives that then provide a top-down reinforcement of the success of your business.

?But it is not just the intelligence they provide; it’s the single version of the truth from multiple sources that is where the real value lies. This is as true for retailers trying to target customers with specific customer-centric sales strategies as it is for car manufacturers looking to improve and optimise the costs of parts produced in a supply chain.

?Bottom line, businesses can use analytics, especially when they are fuelled by AI, to optimise process efficiencies rather than creating multiple point solutions. This is probably the most important thing that businesses can get from their data.

Q: The future of Analytics?

?Heman: Embedded automation capabilities and analytics infused with AI that will help businesses shorten time to value is the future of analytics. We will also see the democratisation of data and analytics tools so that more than just the “data scientist” will be able to create models to derive business insights from data.

?This move to enhanced user usability of data and analytics will move the dependence on skills-heavy data analytics and DevOps skills to a business engineering focus – all fuelled by the knowledge gained from data.??

?It won’t be a race in speed but a race in quality. API and integration led practices will become critical to the successful use of data across multiple data sources.
