Q&A: Evan Farrer, Software Development Engineer on Customer Care Tech with Amazon Pharmacy
What accomplishment at Amazon are you most proud of? I’m proud that I got to play a part on the launch of Amazon Pharmacy. Most of the work of a software developer is focused on making improvements to existing products. It is a rare treat to be able to launch a new product, and few engineers will have the opportunity to launch something as big as Amazon Pharmacy. I love that when I go to amazon.com I can see “Pharmacy” in the menu.
What is your favorite leadership principle and why? I love the “Customer Obsession” leadership principle. It sounds so obvious but I’m continuously surprised at how many decisions have straight forward answers when the focus is on what is best for the customer. I’ve been at other companies that have something similar to Amazon’s leadership principles, but I have never seen those principles used to guide daily decisions like I do at Amazon.
