Could you please give us a quick summary of your session at the event?
The session will provide an overview of the EU AI Act fundamentals and key concepts by outlining the four types of risks and how to determine which category or categories your AI systems fit into as well as additional considerations for general purpose AI such as establishing policies aligned with the GDPR principles, setting up oversight mechanisms, and employing risk management strategies.
How should businesses approach human oversight in AI systems?
Human oversight plays a pivotal role in the responsible use and iterative improvement of AI systems. The importance of this oversight cannot be overstated. It is a critical component in ensuring that AI technologies serve the common good, respecting human autonomy and ethical principles. For businesses, integrating human oversight throughout the AI lifecycle is not just a regulatory necessity, but a foundational aspect of responsible innovation.
How do you see the Act impacting AI innovation across industries?
The EU AI Act, the world's first such comprehensive legislation, was conceived to ensure safe, transparent, traceable, non-discriminatory AI innovation. Moreover, its objectives are to foster investment and innovation in AI, enhance governance and enforcement, and encourage a single EU market for AI. Thereby, striking the right balance between AI innovation and responsible implementation is crucial for maximizing the benefits while mitigating risks.
