Q2 2024: A Quarter Defined by Connections

Following a fast-paced first quarter, we spent Q2 of 2024 doing what we do best: establishing new connections and strengthening our existing relationships with our clients and partners. Looking back on the work we’ve done this quarter, I am so proud of our team. Once again, we’ve shown up to do solid work for our clients and garner brilliant coverage across the board.

Before I dive into the work updates, I want to announce a new addition to our team! My partner and I recently got a new puppy, Nacho, who has rapidly become a beloved DG-PR team mascot, hanging out with the rest of the Vancouver team in the office. Nacho is a Boston Terrier who never fails to put a smile on people’s faces.

In other team news, one of our senior associates, Rachel Loucks , has relocated from Vancouver and is now representing DGPR in the East Coast in Toronto. We were thrilled to be able to support Rachel in this move and continue to expand our team in both time zones.

Another highlight of the quarter — of the year, really — was Collision Conf . For the last Toronto-based event, we brought the majority of the team to really immerse ourselves in the best of the tech scene. We were honoured to be there in support of two of our clients. Marlon Thompson , from Spring, spoke on the main stage and also a separate investor-focused panel with other industry leaders. Meanwhile, Sandy Ono, from OpenText, took to the Panda Conf stage to talk about legacy brands and share incredibly valuable insights from her impressive career history.

In addition to supporting our clients at the conference itself, we threw a wildly successful Collision party in the Kandy Gallery at Hotel X with our global PR, Comms and Marketing partner, Hotwire . We were thrilled to welcome a group of 90 people that included clients, partners, influencers, and tier-one contacts from BNN, the Globe & Mail, Canadian Press, and more. We also had the mayor of Vancouver in attendance.

We spent the evening discussing the amazing innovation that’s coming out of Canada’s tech industry, and celebrating with a fantastic group of people. This really was a highlight of the conference. It was really special to see some of our closest connections meeting each other and building new relationships at our event. Take a look on our LinkedIn and Instagram (@dangamblepr) accounts for photos.?

Next year, Collision is moving to Vancouver under the banner of Web Summit. With so many team members based in Vancouver, we’re really excited to host our friends and partners at home. We’ve already started planning the event, and are looking at different venues and partners to make sure it’s a night to remember. Watch this space for more updates!

The end of June brought us to the end of H1 and I’m pleased to say that it has been a remarkably strong year. The last quarter allowed us to focus on our core values and take the time to enjoy everything we do for all of our clients.

As we move into the second half of July, we’re bringing our team together for our summer strategy retreat and we are heading to Whistler. The goal is to reflect on the work done to date and look at our goals for the second half of the year — and beyond.?

Keep following us on our journey and stay tuned for our next quarterly update. You can also follow our updates on Instagram to get insights on what we’re doing day to day (and see some photos of adorable Nacho!).

We’ll be back with another update in a few months.
