Q1 2024: Onwards and Upwards

Let me start this update with the question we’re all asking ourselves: how on earth is it April already??
While the first quarter of 2024 has whizzed by, that hasn’t stopped us from enjoying ourselves. In fact, Q1 has been really fun at DGPR.
We kicked off the year by moving into our new office space at Pavilion Cowork in Mount Pleasant. Mount Pleasant has been a part of our journey from the very beginning and we’re so glad to be back in this part of the city. Being close to all the bustling restaurants and bars has been great, and we’ve been enjoying many new spaces as a team for local happy hours and monthly socials.?
Pavilion Cowork was the perfect choice for our team, not just because it’s a gorgeous place to work, but because it’s a great location for hosting clients. (It also doesn’t hurt that they have a fantastic coffee machine.) We’ve also made it a habit to host friends of the agency for meetings and hangouts with the team. So if you’re ever in the neighbourhood, feel free to check in!
In January, we also held our annual strategy meeting, where we typically set our goals and plans for the coming year. Coming off a fantastic year of growth in 2023 — which we continued with the addition of a new public company to our roster — the team felt energised and full of potential as we revisited our vision for 2024.?
Speaking of growth, I’m thrilled to say that we’ve made another wonderful addition to the team. Perri Burrage comes to us with plenty of experience in the Canadian PR and media landscape, and it has been a joy to see her hit the ground running and make a significant impact on our culture at DGPR and for our clients in such a short period of time.?

As we continue to expand as an agency, I am convinced that our success and growth comes down to the people we have on the team. We have consciously built a workplace that’s ideal for people who are excited about running effective PR strategies for growing tech spaces. I am increasingly proud of this team of smart and dedicated people who have fun together and carry forward a spirit of respect for each other, our clients, and the space we work in.?
The energy within the team is invariably positive, and I can genuinely say that we enjoy spending time together whether we’re tackling challenges for our clients or spending time on a patio after work. This feels like an important milestone to acknowledge among the measurable success we’re having —?and I don’t take any of it for granted.
As I hinted at in my last update, we have spent time this quarter being more strategic and deliberate in planning our own marketing efforts for this year. We will continue to share these quarterly updates, and I plan to continue submitting timely articles on an ongoing basis to Forbes. (You may have seen a couple of bylines from me in the last few months.) In addition, we’re planning some phenomenal in-person activations throughout the year, and we can’t wait to host you at one of those. Keep your eyes on this space for more on that front.
As I get ready to sign off, I want to mention a conversation I had with a client during one of our regular trips to Toronto. During dinner, this senior lead asked me about the values and direction of the company. She wanted to know what I wanted to accomplish with DGPR. I had a moment of clarity as I responded: We want happy team members that are working with happy clients. I want us to do great work and be great partners to the teams we work with.?
It really is that simple. This is what drives us every day and serves us in the work we do. I’m really excited to see how this mission carries through in our projects and partnerships over the rest of the year.
