Python Polars has reached an important milestone with the release of version 1.0. Over the past four years, Polars has achieved significant popularity, boasting 27.5K stars on GitHub and over 7 million monthly downloads. It has emerged as a formidable alternative for rapid data modelling.

With the launch of Polars 1.0, the project signals its availability for production environments. Backed by the new company Polars, this release promises improved open-source development and quality. Looking ahead, Polars plans to introduce a redesigned streaming engine and GPU acceleration via NVIDIA RAPIDS, improving performance and scalability.

What's next
