PvP in Escape Academy? It's a better fit than you think
It's Thursday and a double-feature day here at Game Developer, with interviews from the folks at Coin Crew Games on PvP in Escape Academy, and the creators of Cassette Beasts on making "monsters into mixtapes." We also have plenty of news: from the likes of Rockstar co-creator Dan Houser, Forza, and more.
The Coin Crew Games crew tells us why?Escape Academy?is getting a PvP mode.
Salyh said that making replayable content was something that the studio wanted to do, but it was also a response to fan feedback. Fixed escape rooms can only be played once, and once players know the solution, the rooms aren’t really playable anymore.
The development team started prototyping different ideas, starting with more traditional single-player or co-op experiences. However, they made a "versus mode" and that’s what playtesters started gravitating to the most.
The developer talks with us about the challenges of making a game that can fuse any two creatures.
Houser makes a semi-return to game development with a studio that plans to spin out its projects into other media like podcasts and animation.
The unnamed project will be a standalone mobile game focused on car customization.
