#PV - Make Good Choices

By John R. Nocero & Sandy Abell

John: One thing that I have never forgotten is the fact that I can choose. I can’t choose everything that I experience in life (parents, clothes for my 3rd grade picture, others opinions) but I can choose my experiences. For me, it comes down to making good life choices.

In fact, this was my horoscope today: "Your high from your recent successes could have you wanting to go crazy purchasing luxury items you didn't feel were practical before, Leo. This is fine as long as you're discriminating and don't give in to impulse buying. This also isn't a good time to overindulge in food and drink. You should definitely enjoy your successes while still making use of your common sense."

Common sense really is the key. Success is fleeting but hard work and the results from good choices lasts forever, don't you think Sandy?

Sandy: Absolutely John!!! We always have the power to choose. Most of the time we can choose our situation. If we choose to follow a certain path, we can usually predict the outcome. If we choose to not follow the path (which is following another path) we know what will happen with that too.

The challenge comes when there are too many choices, or there aren’t any options. If there are too many choices, we run the risk of getting stuck looking at everything, and end up doing nothing. Then we stay caught right where we are.

It’s important to look at the pros and cons of each option and then make a choice. Being sure to take into account the possible rewards and consequences of your choice. Sometimes there is a situation where we have no choice, like the pain you experienced. When that happens, we have the ability to choose how to feel and react to what is going on. It’s important to know that situations do not come with feelings attached. We choose how we want to react to it.

You can choose to be victimized by it, or you can choose to take charge and find the positives in it. If something happens and five people watch it, there will most likely be five different feelings about whatever it is. We choose our feelings based on our perception of what is going on, and our perception is guided by our inner voice (but that’s another article).

The bottom line, John, is that yes, I pay attention to my attitude about things as I go through my day. I continually make choices about how I want to feel and react, which is how I create the life I want.
