John: Sandy – I saw that you had a new video posted on your LI feed about having your best life. I think it is important for people to know they can have their best life but they need to decide what they want, why they want it and what they need to do in order to get it.
When you figure out what you need, write it down and then do more of it. For example, last Friday, I finished work and I was totally exhausted. Emotionally, physically, spiritually – just spent. On Friday night I sat on the couch and did absolutely nothing.
Over the weekend, I did the things I needed to do in order to have my batteries recharge – I dealt with some emotions that I had been feeling that I didn’t realize until I got into them; cooked and ate some good food, spent quality time with my dogs and basically sat in isolation. I needed it.
Now today, I feel better, my eyes are not as sore, my tension is not as much, my breathing more secure. This week will be busy, but I can focus. From a spiritual perspective, I had received a message from a person I have not talked to in quite some time. She's important. They wanted to talk. So, I set up time this week to do that. and we did and it was spectacular. We have time to talk again next week; I can't wait. Hope they say the same.
What I do know is that I am ready to handle it. I think that is the important thing that people need to keep in mind when they talk about their lives – you may want all these things, but are you also ready to handle it? If not, there is a chance it will still overwhelm you.
Focus, know what you want, why you want it and then prepare yourself to deal with it once you receive it.
Sandy, I am curious – what is the reason that you put that video out and what do you tell people who discuss what/how they want their life to be?
Sandy: Hey John, great topic. I, like you, believe that we can create the life we want if we’re willing to do the mental and physical work to make it happen.
First of all, it’s important for each of us to pay attention to what we see. As we’ve previously discussed, everything is out there. There are amazing, wonderful, beautiful things all around us, and there is also ugliness, sadness and hatred out there. If you spend your time focusing on all the good in your world, the little things like the sunshine, the trees and birds, and fresh air, as well as your successes in business and relationships, you will find that more good things will come. Conversely, if you spend all your time complaining about how things never work out for you, hating your car because it’s not the fastest or fanciest, moaning because your work isn’t perfect, you will find that more negativity comes your way.
Each of us has to be aware of what we are focusing on, and what we are surrounding ourselves with. If you have a goal you want to achieve, get clear on it and what needs to happen to get there, and then take the steps necessary to make it happen. Along the way it’s important to always find the good, even if things don’t flow easily or as you wish them to.
I’ve learned that in the end there is usually a good reason for the way most things happen, and even if we don’t see it immediately, it will eventually make itself clear.
