Booking clients for our Liftoff TV show means our team get to talk to a number of insightful business leaders, innovative companies and look at a wide array of solutions and services. The hard part starts when we need to make decisions about what content is most critical for our viewers to know about, or hear more about. Sometimes the news is better for a podcast or a blog post. Sometimes we think it should be front and center on the TV show.
While working on the editorial calendar there was one topic that kept coming up in the narratives we were hearing: The workplace is awful. Everyone is losing their job. How do I protect mine, or find a new one if needed?
Many Of your Friends Have Lost Thier Job. Help Them.
The reality is, either you or someone you know
has recently lost thier job. What now?
As people who care about other people, it's heartbreaking to see great talent looking to find their next new work-home or worrying about how they are going to support themselves and/or their family financially. For these people they can really use your support. If you have a chance, reach out and connect. Help them brainstorm or make introductions. It will mean a lot to them. Not sure what to say? We found this great article here .

The Job Market is Still Good: Keep the Bigger Picture In Perspective
Even though times seem tough for many of us, the labor market is still strong. This week alone, LinkedIn shared that 42,900 new accounting jobs were opened/posted, over 10,000 SaaS Sales jobs were opened and the posted more than 14,000 Private Equity opportunities. These are positive stats.
More so, Tom Goodwin posted a killer infographic today showing jobs lost vs. new job growth over the past two year by a few select companies.

With a bright side for job opportunities breaking through the noise and sadness, we called Ron Harrington , Partner at HJW executive search to check in and see how the search firm volume was. Here is what he had to say
"Volumes for new searches are holding steady. But, there is a good bit of starting and stopping right now. While there is still a good amount of opportunity, companies are just being more cautious. That's not a bad thing. It means if the company hires you they feel good that your new role will have a better chance of not getting cut in the short term. "
Know That If You Are Looking, You Are Not Alone
According to a recent poll from Monster , 96% of employees are looking for a new job . That's staggering. According to the report, most say that they are trying to keep up with the cost of living. If you are looking for a new job, keep in mind that your competition is fierce. Be organized, network and don't delay accepting while you negotiate, otherwise, you might just find yourself back at the starting line.
At the end of the day businesses need to manage to their bottom line, and workers need to take care of their financial needs. Keep the overall workplace in perspective as you contemplate your next steps.
