For the past several years (but especially over the last 6 months) 20th century retailing giants are paying the price for not adopting to the new ways of the 21st consumers.
Expert after expert has warned them that they are no longer in charge...consumers are! A radical shift is happening away from the old way of doing business to a more modern (up to date) process.
Has the wine industry changed?
For the most part...No! But there are pockets of innovative thinking that is showing the way. Around the world winemakers are working hard to improve the quality of their wines. More and more wines businesses are rebuilding their facilities to make a more personalized wine experience for wine loving tourists.
Yet retailing for the most part is the same as it was over 30 years ago. For the approximate 140 million + wine lovers globally that does not work.
We just saw an announcement from Quini Systems that they are starting a program for a Canadian winery that will allow wine tasters to utilize the Quini rating system in the tasting room.
Why is this important?
Wine lovers are more interested in what their friends rate a wine at than wine professionals do. Fermented Lifestyle has embraced Quini because it is personalized but importantly socially oriented. We have already committed to working closely with Quini but more importantly ANY winery that wants to work with both businesses we will also pledge to work closely with.
Tomorrow is about fulfilling the demands of consumers. Wine consumers want to engage those businesses that understand their needs. We know that we do. We know that Quini Systems does...and we know that any winery/wine business who knows this too is either one of our partners or is just waiting to become one!

7 年Transparency will be key, so will wine pros' involvement and engagement with the consumer online and offline. Speaking with them and building trusting relationships.
