Putting the human back into our systems

It's January 1st 2021. I'm sitting at our kitchen table, contemplating on the New Year. The house is quiet, I'm the only one up. No sounds outside either, apart from an occasional street cleaning truck that doesn't have much to do because of the ban on fireworks the past few weeks.

My mind is wandering off to last night, when we were waiting for the final hours of 2020 to pass. Amidst dinner, old fashioned board games, music and laughter, 2020 reviews, deep reflections and light conversations it happened. In reflective playful mode, I brought up a memory about a session I had had as part of a business coaching program, a little over four and a half years ago. During the session we got to the essence of what I want my to bring to the world. It was that essence that would lead to the event I now launch every January. As I was sharing this with my partner's best friend, the title for the 5th edition of event this year finally came to me.

You see, the living systems we thrive in best are the systems that are human as well as ecosystem friendly. The regenerative kind. And somehow we seem to be co-creating systems that nobody wants, that are destructive and that perpetuate patterns which aren't sustainable in the long run.

"Something about regenerating humanity or regenerating unity." I said, gazing for a second, as if I was looking across far lands. Our best friend smiled. And then creativity kicked in and the words clicked.

Regenerating Human (Un)ity.

This morning I looked up the words. What I found is exactly what the upcoming 5th edition of the Systemic Leadership Summit is all about.
