Putting is Chipping - cont'd

Chipping is putting with a lofted club using gradually longer “putting strokes” using your putting grip.
Visualize: Often a clock face is used to describe stroke sizes – I prefer using my various leg joints as my guide. In this picture, I would say I am finishing my shoulder and arm movement hip high or 3 o’clock which would imply that I took it back about 2/3 of that distance or in my case, knee high or 7 o’clock. Like putting, there is no wrist hinging involved.
Carry Distance: Mark off 10 yard increments and see which stroke size carries the ball what distance. For example:
Stroke Size: My ankle to ankle putting stroke (7 to 5) will carry the ball approximately 5-7 yards with just about every club, how far it rolls is determined by loft and pace.
Ex: My Knee to mid-thigh putting stroke (8 to 3:30, see photo above) will carry the ball approximately 15 yards with most clubs, how far it rolls is determined by loft and pace.
Ex: My hip to hip putting stroke (8 to 2:30) will carry the ball approximately 30 yards with most clubs, how far it rolls is determined by loft and pace.
