Putting the cart before the horse
Heard it for the first time? I got you covered. Here is what Wikipedia says.
Now that you know, let me come to my point.
I’m presently reading a book titled “The Art of Thinking Clearly” by Rolf Dobelli. In chapter #2, the author explains something called “Swimmer’s Body Illusion”.
In his own words:
“Whenever we confuse selection factors with results, we fall prey to what Taleb calls the swimmer’s body illusion.”
One example from the book: Professional swimmers don’t have perfect bodies because they train extensively. Rather, they are good swimmers because of their physics.
It got me thinking; most often in life, we set unrealistic expectations for ourselves. We think once we become successful, we will be happy but the reality is that those who are happy become successful. Life isn’t a rat race, we got to live one moment at a time and live that moment happily. A Happy Mind is where the ideas grow, and its the ideas that build the empire.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama said, “A happy mind is a healthy mind, and a healthy mind is good for the body.”
Next time if you are in a Bad State, just remember it's just a bEND and not the END.
