Putting AI to Work for You

Many job-seekers see artificial intelligence as the enemy of their career aspirations, especially when it comes to “generative AI” – programs designed to create anything from imagery to computer code to a professional-sounding thank-you note.

But these programs can be put to good use – allies in your path to a better position, tools to make you stand out among your fellow applicants.

Still uneasy? Don’t worry – MOAA can help.

Attend a special free webinar April 30 and hear from Francis Q. "France" Hoang, an Army veteran and co-founder of boodleAI, on how generative AI can:

  • Help your resume reach new heights.
  • Aid your interview prep work.
  • Allow you to connect with a potential employer.

Don’t miss this chance to bring a tech-savvy assist to your military transition or the next step in your career path. Sign up today! (AI can help with the thank-you note later.)

What It Means to Be a ‘Known Commodity’

Time in uniform teaches servicemembers (and their families) to prepare for the unexpected. But that doesn’t mean you have to like the unexpected … and employers are no different.

Sure, they want the person with the best skills for the job, but they also want someone who fits with the organizational culture. Someone who will hit the ground running. Someone familiar with the landscape.

You may check all those boxes, but how can you be sure your prospective employer knows and appreciates those “soft skills”? MOAA transition expert Brian Anderson has some advice you won’t want to miss:

  • Know the Terrain: Don’t skimp on your company research. An organization’s “About Us” page probably holds enough talking points, key accomplishments, and cultural identity drivers to fill an entire job interview.
  • Polish Your Presentation: You can’t expect an employer to know you unless you know yourself. Your initial salvo – sometimes called an elevator pitch, or a 30-second commercial – has to be on point.
  • Look the Part: If you’re virtual, be sure your tech is prepared and you are camera-ready. If you’re in-person … well, a little fashion advice never hurt anybody (especially some military-specific guidance from a runway icon).

I registered. It’s amazing the impact that applicant tracking systems impacted how HR used the resume process. AI will have another major impact, for the good. It can also present some not so favorable outcomes. This should be very beneficial for applicants as well as the HR folks.
