PUTTING AI TO GOOD USE

PUTTING AI TO GOOD USE

I can't even begin to imagine all the ways AI will revolutionize our planet.

Maybe you currently think of AI as a way to write copy, create Excel formulas, or generate a bit of code. That would be correct.

But it's already helping predict the path of hurricanes, detect cancer that the human eye can't see, and forecast crop yields based on soil conditions and weather patterns.

If you continuously think of AI as an evasive technology coming for your job, you will miss all the great things it's currently doing. Think of it as a tool amplifying human potential.

Rather than fear it, master it. Learn to leverage its power. Ben-Jamin Toy, HSG and I worked alongside Darrel Bruce , inventor and AI Expert who helped us build the first AI-powered book bot.

Those who embrace AI will soon find themselves indispensable. The person who understands how to integrate AI into their workflow becomes the person a company can’t afford to lose.

Companies are looking for problem solvers who can leverage AI to work smarter, not harder. If you position yourself as the go-to AI expert in your office, you’re not just securing your job... You’re setting yourself up for raises, promotions, and leadership opportunities.

Instead of resisting AI, we embraced it when writing our book. We explored new ways to utilize AI that had never been done before. And from that, C.A.R.L. was born.

The Cohesive Artificial Response Leader (aka C.A.R.L.)

C.A.R.L. isn't just another chatbot. He's an AI-powered tool designed to help aspiring leaders navigate career growth, workplace challenges, and team cohesion. Think of him as a digital mentor that provides actionable insights based on the principles of the book, Becoming a Cohesive Leader: The POWERup Guide to Grow, Develop, and Advance Your Career.

Q: I’ve been working hard and delivering results, but my company keeps passing me over for a promotion. What should I do?

C.A.R.L.'s Response: “In the context of a Cohesion Culture? , if you find yourself being passed over for promotions despite your hard work and results, it might be beneficial to adopt a growth mindset.

Dr. Troy Hall and Ben-Jamin Toy emphasize the importance of understanding your value and purpose within the organization. They suggest that you should not wait for someone else to give your job meaning or for opportunities to be handed to you.

Instead, focus on cultivating a growth mindset by seeking out development opportunities, even if they are not immediately visible. This might involve proactively seeking feedback, identifying areas for personal development, and aligning your work with the bigger picture of the organization.

Additionally, surrounding yourself with a community of like-minded individuals who are proactive and positive can help you maintain a growth mindset and potentially open up new opportunities for advancement."

Q: How do I approach my supervisor for a promotion?

C.A.R.L.'s Response: “The book suggests several strategies that can help you position yourself for a promotion. Here are some key points:

  1. Commit to Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate your ability to think strategically and contribute ideas beyond your current role. This shows that you can think enterprise-wide and not just within your department.
  2. Be a Proactive Agent of Change: Embrace change and innovation. Show that you can adapt and contribute to the successful implementation of new ideas.
  3. Think Like a Boss: Adopt a mindset that challenges existing norms and proposes innovative solutions. Volunteer for system and process reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
  4. Communicate Effectively: When discussing your ideas or accomplishments, do so in a way that highlights team contributions and avoids appearing as though you are seeking personal recognition.
  5. Seek Feedback: Request feedback on your performance in a way that does not appear needy. Listen for genuine, unsolicited comments on your work.

By following these strategies, you can demonstrate your readiness for a promotion and show your supervisor that you are capable of taking on more responsibility."

Palmetto SHRM has had 2 recent speakers on AI. One of the speakers recommended spending 15 minutes a day on a new form of AI. ChatGPT, Grammerly, Git Hub, Alexa were on the list. Some I never heard of. Looking forward to learning about CARL.

Up-skilling, continuous curiosity & problem solving is the key ??.
