So let me ask you, how many pieces of Halloween candy did you eat so far? 5, 15, 25?
Did you do the thing where you bought candy early so you wouldn’t forget to buy it? As if that would happen. And then you hid it in the back of your kitchen cabinet, and realized it was gone a week later?
I'm doing it too, stress eating.
I work from home, and the TV is usually on in the background. My other half is a bit of a news junkie. Especially this time of year, he’s watching and waiting for the next crazy Trump tweet, or an unhinged comment from his rally, or whatever insane headline pops up about what he said or did.
These are insanely nerve-racking times.
At this point, I've lost the ability to focus. I mean, the election is only four days away.
So, I get it. Sometimes you eat the Halloween candy.
But is it helping?
I mean, don’t get me wrong. It feels good while you’re eating it, but afterward...ick.
And I don't know about you but I do it every year. I grab a few of my faves from the plastic bucket —mini Snickers and Reese’s for me.

Sometimes they end up in the back of the freezer, but most of the time, I slip them into my coat pocket, only to find them on some random day in December along with my crunched up tissues. I know kinda gross.
Every year I eat them, and every year they get grosser and grosser. I’m not sure if it’s the guilt combined with the fake sugar and chemicals, or maybe as I get older my body knows better. I don't know but I feel disgusting afterward.
I'm fully aware that eating a bunch of candy isn't going to help decide the election or help you find a new job. If only there could be a vote cast for Kamala for every piece of Halloween candy eaten.
But really, for any busy creative professional, learning better eating habits is a must because the stress is going to be there no matter what.
The end of year quick turn around projects aren't going to stop. The back-to-back Zoom meetings aren't going to stop and yes, the election is a few short days away.
And your Halloween candy is still hiding in the back of the kitchen counter—but eating it isn’t solving any of your problems.
If the stress of too many back to back meetings and and making plans for this year's holiday festivities is keeping you from eating healthy, then I have something awesome for you!
The holidays have officially started, and you don't want to spend another holiday season stressed out.
Wouldn't it be awesome if this holiday season you were able to put some healthy habits in place that would last throughout the year?
