Where you spend your time is a good indication of where your heart lies. What do you SAY is most important to you? If I told you everything in your life would be gone except for one thing, what ONE THING would you keep? You only get to choose one…what will it be?
Take the top 5 areas of your life and rank them 1-5 according to importance.
Now, write down how much time do you spend on each one each week? Be honest.
Life is choices.
Every day we are confronted by decisions about how to spend our time.
We cannot really “save” time. We can only spend it.
Each decision of where you spend your time is an irreversible choice.
We cannot go back and recapture time that is lost.
With the experiments above, what was your #1 thing to keep? Does it line up with where you spend your time?
There are 168 hours in a week. If you work a 40-hour week, that leaves 128 hours.
Subtract 7 hours sleep per night.
79 hours in a week are CHOICE time.
That two workweeks of free time every single week.
Now, how much time do you spend with the things you SAY are important?
Follow the trail of time…it will help you find the things that mean the most to you.
A professor put an empty jar on the table and filled it with rocks.
He asked if it was full. The class said yes.
He took out smaller rocks and filled in the gaps.
“Full yet?”
“No!” they shouted.
He pulled out a jar of sand and filled every crevice.
“Full yet?”
“No!”
He poured water into the jar to the rim to fill the jar.
The moral is not that you can always fit more into your time.
The moral is put in the big rocks first.
If the jar is already full of little rocks and sand things, there is no room for the big things.
Dump out your time jar today.
Put in the big rocks first.
Then add in the little rocks.
It will bring order to your time.

4 年This exercise is very telling. My #1 is not where I spend most of my time. Nor my #2 nor my #3. It would be my #4. Some things we take for granted and fail to invest the time where we should. Thank you for the challenge to reflect on my priorities.
