PUT. THAT APPLICATION. DOWN. Applications are for closers.
Matt Primeau
Founder/CEO, CareerMission.ai | Owner/Co-Founder, Tesla Alumni Association | CareerMission Intensity, all the time
Since I was laid off from Tesla, I have not applied to a single job or written a single resume. Zero, zilch, nada, nothing. I have not put the #opentowork frame on my profile picture. I have not taken Tesla out of my headline, or given up the Tesla identity I worked so hard to earn. I have not asked anyone for help finding a job, or told anyone I'm looking for a job. I have focused exclusively on generously networking within the #TeslaAlumniAssociation, because literally every human on earth knows networking is how you get a great job, not apply-and-pray. And the Tesla Alumni coaching tree contains the coolest, strongest, smartest people on earth.
How it's going:
In the two weeks since starting the Tesla Alumni Association (you should join!):
When I've found something that's just right for me and my family, my goal is to write just one resume, and fill out just one application, for just one job, that I'm just crazy about, and that I know I've already gotten. Hence, "applications are for closers." I'll still pray when I apply, just not about whether or not I got the job ??????
You can do this too! Right now!! Today!!!
Friends, I was unemployed for over a year once before, and it was the most awful nightmare of my life. I'm seeing my Tesla family posting about being discouraged and I can't stand to see it. You guys, it doesn't have to be like this!
You're in the Tesla Alumni Association. You can do literally exactly the same things I'm doing, and get exactly the same results, except even better - literally multiples better - because we'll all be doing it together!! ??????????????
We have a chance to unlock exponential growth in all our careers right now if we just act intelligently, together, with Tesla intensity. There's nothing better you can do to help yourself, your family, and the rest of your fellow suffering Tesla Alumni!
So DO IT!!!
Spend $100 and get LinkedIn Sales Navigator. This tool is absolutely amazing. In a critical situation like this, you can't afford NOT to use it. Get deadly with the filters and look through the association like a menu of amazing potential friends, people who already halfway like you and could possibly help you. Find all of the most amazing, interesting people with whom you'd most like to connect, send them connection requests, and they'll almost certainly accept. If you're feeling nervous about it you can just say, "Matt Primeau told me to reach out to you..." and it will literally be true because I AM telling you, right now.
The more people who are connected to you, especially people who have a lot of people connected to them, the more "gravity" your profile gets. The easier it is to get the next connection, the more people see what you post, the more people read your ideas, the higher the salaries and quality of the jobs the algorithm suggests for you, etc., etc., the whole world opens up and you get to make deliberate, careful choices based on the things you value, instead of hasty, impulsive decisions based on the things you fear.
We can all just choose to do it together with only a few hours a day of very pleasant effort (who doesn't like stalking social media?), connecting and chatting with our awesome Tesla friends.
Please do THAT for 40 hours a week instead of applying for 1,000 jobs you don't really want, and save your prayers for the success of your new business ventures! I think you will be happier for it ??????
(P.S. DM me!! I'm happy to help any member of the Tesla Alumni Association directly! If your loved ones are worried about you, you can even tell them I'm helping you! The faster we all crush this, the stronger we all are, now and in the future!! ??????)
