PUSHING PAST THE MINOR GYM PROBLEMS
I wasn’t gonna share this, I’m not really comfortable sharing this, but here it goes. As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some leg pain since July. It’s finally been healing up, and I got back to normal activity, playing basketball and lifting fairly heavy again.
Well, a few weeks ago, I tweaked my hip (related to the leg pain I was dealing with), enduring another setback. It’s unfortunate, it stinks and I wish I was pain free. Man plans and God laughs. Here we are, 8 months later, and I get my confidence knocked out from under me. Except, I’m optimistic this time, I didn’t complain or allow it to overtake my mood and day. I know that the pain will pass and get better. It’s frustrating, I can’t lie, it makes me stressed, but I’m okay.

As a professional who’s studied this stuff vigorously for the last few years, I sometimes feel like I don’t deserve the credibility I’ve earned. But what makes a good coach is having been through the experience and solving the issue. Sports and training are great, but it also comes with a price, the inevitable aches and pains and injuries. Just like anything in life, there’s a risk-reward. I’ve dealt with plenty of them and I’ve been fortunate enough to overcome these challenges, so I’m confident in my ability to take control of my pain this time and persevere again.?
Do this for me: don’t get upset about a little setback in the gym. Use this time to look at the big picture and see what happened, how you can be better from it next time. A tweak, a pain, an injury, it comes with the lifestyle, even for those of us who do it for a living. Health, fitness, business. Keep going.
