How we are helping our leading sports partners innovate and drive change

It's been a busy few weeks here at WePlay, as we head towards the end of the year. Our team certainly hasn't taken its foot off the gas, as we support clients with global events and exciting announcements.

On 9-10 December, Mina Rashid, Dubai hosts Sail GP with two days of adrenaline-fuelled action on the water. Our team have been working tirelessly around the clock supporting ticket sales, brand campaigns, broadcast streams, digital and social campaigns, including a TikTok TopView for Dubai, reaching thousands of new and existing fans with creative content.


Not only are Sail GP creating an impact in the world of racing, but they are also leading the way with their Racing with Purpose vision.? Their Race for the Future takeover showcases how SailGP is racing for impact, innovation, inclusivity, and clean energy solutions; using the opportunity to challenge other sports to embed sustainable action into their DNA. Launching the sale!

Things never stand still with Sail GP, and we were privileged to launch the announcement of its US Team sale, the largest team acquisition in SailGP history. In true Sail GP style, its shaking-up the sports ownership model, with the announcement of The Avenue Sports Fund, led by Avenue Capital Group CEO Marc Lasry. Other members of the investment group include actress and producer Issa Rae; world champion heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder; global DJ and producer Gryffin; and NFL stars DeAndre Hopkins, Malik Jackson, Roquan Smith and Kayvon Thibodeaux. WePlay x UFC Fight Pass selected for a funded Meta Promo Ad beta test

Moving away from Sail GP, our Ultimate Fighting Championship team are preparing for another big Fight Pass Invitational 5, on December 10, where the world’s most elite submission grappling athletes will face off. ?Tune in to find out who will emerge victorious, as the greatest names convene at the UFC APEX for a historic night where pride, legacy, and rivalry will all be on the line.

Our UFC team are constantly looking to innovate and identified an opportunity to capitalise on seasonal trends with WePlay x UFC Fight Pass Meta account being selected for a funded Promo Ad beta test over the extremely busy Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday period. ?Our data tells us that 85% of shoppers actively seek out promotions and offers before making a purchase, sport is no exception, and Promotional Ads help connect people with their best offers by simplifying the process to find and apply useful codes – results speak for themselves. So far, the campaign, featuring the promotional code in the ad unit, has delivered significant annual subscriber volume:

  • ?+700% higher than our best performing campaign over the last 30 days
  • A very healthy CPA 46% lower than our most efficient campaign in the last 30 day

Smashing KPIs YoY

Last but certainly not least, our event marketing work continues for IRONMAN.? For over five years we have supported IRONMAN across a diverse range of disciplines, including trail running, road cycling, mountain biking. The team are gearing up for another Winter Promo for Run Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Our successful international campaigns for IRONMAN continue in multiple disciplines across multiple markets, and it was great to see such an incredible turn-out (and conversions!) at the Singapore Marathon last week, smashing KPIs across the board!

We are certainly not slowing down as we approach the end of the year! We look forward to continuing our work with some great partners, and the team here at WePlay in 2024!
