Push Notifications and Team Communication

I recently published a poll on who is to blame when a project is late. I believe it is the responsibility of everyone on the team to communicate. It's the difference between fault and responsibility. It might not be your fault that the project is behind schedule, but is is the responsibility of everyone involved to get it back on track.

I believe changing the way we communicate during a project can help here. It is easy to adapt to a changing schedule when we are told early. Think about waiting in for the plumber to arrive. It's really annoying when they don't turn up. This would not have been an issue if they had called ahead to say they would not be able to make the agreed time.

Project Managers are often requesting updates. This annoys them more than it annoys you, believe me. Developers (or workers on any team) need to be communicating early and sending push notifications up to the project manager as soon as they have something to communicate. It then becomes the project managers job to react and adapt accordingly. Do your bit and push early, push often.
