Push The Horizon

It is hard to care about anyone or anything when you only think of yourself or just today. But when you push the horizon further it is natural to start seeing the bigger picture and start caring. 

Let me ask you a series of questions to make my point.

If you had children, would you love them? 

If you had grandchildren, would you love them?

If you had great-grandchildren, and you were blessed enough to see them, would you love them?

If you had great-great-grandchildren, and you were truly blessed to see them, would you love them?

If you answered yes, then let me ask you this. What are you doing to ensure those great-great grandkids have an environment to thrive in? Clean air. Clean water. Clean food. And resources to live off. 

Most are not doing anything to impact the environment that will host their unborn loved ones. Forget doing anything, most don’t even care let alone are aware or think in this way. Start thinking long term and you will start caring more about this planet we live on. For our Sumarti Ashram project in Biribadi (Orrisa), we have a 50-year plan and a 300-year plan that we are working on. This forces us then to make very different decisions every day. Thoughtful and wise decisions that will impact the lives of many, the many lifeforms on this planet, and the planet itself.  

Our environment is our responsibility. Earth is our responsibility. It is all of our responsibilities.

To not care for our planet is no different than to defecate in a bathtub that one is soaking in. 

It's kind of what most people are doing. Caring for the planet should begin the day you arrive here. Learn to serve. It’s the first step on the path to the super-conscious mind. And the experience of your effulgent soul within. When you think of serving don’t just think serving humans but rather all life forms and our planet as well. 

Learn to care. Learn to care for this beautiful planet of ours. We have yet to find another one like this in our solar system. 

Amongst the height of ignorance is to think that the future of humanity lies in space. On another planet. Mars for example. Have you seen photos of Mars? Have you seen photos of Earth? If you can’t tell the difference you should stop smoking whatever it is you are smoking. I’m not against space exploration but the billions would be better spent here to care for this ineffable blue ball we live on. 

We’ve been blessed with every possible resource and more here. We don’t need another planet. 

If we can’t take care of what we have how can we take care of what we discover?
