In the Pursuit of Interest???

Recently, watched a movie which, at first glance, didn't seem to matter much. It was one of those films you watch to pass the time, expecting little more than fleeting entertainment. But as the credits rolled, I found myself sitting in silence, grappling with a hard-hitting effect that only became apparent after the final scene. It made me think deeply: Would I also be blinded so much that I'd be only executing things just to stay on top of the ladder?

Moral dilemmas are often so context-dependent. What applies to a common man or woman may not be applicable to people of duty and responsibility. But then, how do we decide where duty ends and the lines get blurred? In positions of authority or responsibility, the weight of expectations can cloud our judgment, making us do things we wouldn't consider under different circumstances.

While we're relentlessly trying to pursue our targets & goals, I sometimes wonder if we'd be capable of doing the same. It's not the weakness of the mind but the fear of positioning ourselves against the crowd's judgment, or the institution's judgment. The pressure to conform, to meet targets, to not rock the boat, can lead us down paths we never intended to tread.

Someone has rightly said, when you look into the eyes of a person in a one-on-one moment, it feels as though you're glimpsing the entire universe—an intimate connection that reflects all of humanity's depth and complexity. There's a profound connection, a recognition of shared humanity. But when two, three, four, or a group comes together, the surreal ability of seeing the universe is gone. It's as if when they come together, they curdle and lose their individual identity and fearlessness. The group dynamic can dilute personal accountability, making it easier to justify actions we might otherwise question.

Lots to think and ponder. In our pursuit of success, do we sometimes lose sight of what truly matters? Perhaps, we should pause and reflect on the paths we're walking, to ensure that in our climb up the ladder, we don't lose our souls along the way.
