Fidelity Investments is a great financial services company and their campus in Westlake is only 3 miles away from my home. I started working there since 2015 and had a very successful 2016. Many people had seen me getting many certifications, but people worked closely with me also knew that I designed the framework for fast mass pipeline construction for DevOps and wrote a book on internal Ribbit site to explain the design philosophy and principles and coached numerous developers to build pipelines by themselves rather than relying on a centralized DevOps team(If you work for Fidelity, you can search my name to find all the articles I wrote on Ribbit). since I wanted to be an enabler, not a pure doer to maintain a stable job. Together, we, the DevOps enablement team and the development teams built more than 100 pipelines using the framework and the same practice was replicated across multiple business units within the organization. We are the hidden figures behind those pipelines.

I was also an unofficial leader in AWS Certification movement, inspired hundreds of people to learn this fantastic technology and was nominated as Master Mentor for AWS Certification Study on Fidelity's Westlake Campus. Before I left, I had shared my study approach with the people and helped people preparing for the industry strength certification. People respect me as a servant leader and an inspirational figure in the organization.

I thank my managers in Fidelity for giving me the opportunity to work on those challenging tasks and also constantly challenged me to excel!

But I voluntarily discontinued my employment with this great company.

Why would I have left such a successful position from such a great company on such a negligible commute? 

The reason is:

If I continued to work for Fidelity, my impact would be limited to the business unit, or maybe some other business units inside this company. But I hope to have a greater impact on the industry. The only channel where I can find such leverage is through a consulting company. That way, I will be able to apply my knowledge and leadership to the clients of my employer and be a multiplier.

Thus I decided to leave the uncomfort zone and moved back to consulting, which means not only working, but also traveling away from my family. But it is part of job and I can live with it. And thank my family for being supportive. I also thank my future colleagues for accepting me as their peer. And thank my past managers for being my references one more time.

Due to my foreign education background, past contracting engagements and my immigration status, the background check and H1-B transfer process were very lengthy and complex. I applied this position on October 2nd and got the offer on December 9th but I can only start working on Feb 20th. So I thank the recruiting team and onboarding team of Deloitte Consulting, background investigation team from First Advantage and immigration team from Guberman Garson LLP. Thank all of you for the effort you put into this hiring process. I also want to thank my future managers and colleagues for being patient. It is not possible to make this happen without the support from each one of you.

Finally, I can start this exciting new journey!
