In the pursuit of finding my voice

In the pursuit of finding my voice

Over the last 5 years, I have worked hard on distilling a mission that drives my actions and decisions. I recently redefined it to read:

Build a more compassionate and courageous world through amplifying voices.

While this simple statement connects many of my interests and opens a ton of avenues for activities, I have been struggling with how to live this mission beyond my day-to-day interactions. On a small scale, I believe that through being kind, patient, and open, I can create small ripples that become bigger and make a positive impact in our world. For example, a smile or nice remark to the cashier in the supermarket can lift their mood and make their day better.

I believe that in the pursuit of this mission, vulnerability and courage are key. Social media has opened the possibility for anyone to share anything they like. Scrolling through my IG reels, and LinkedIn Feed, I am inundated with affirmative posts, recipes, financial advice, and overall people who seem to have found their “thing”, their voice. I am often left feeling lost, without focus, and scared to post anything of substance on social media. I deeply admire anyone with a passion who is devoting a major part of their life to their craft or cause. For me, fitting my thoughts and reflections into an algorithmically digestible format seems impossible. I look up to people like Randi Zuckerberg who is a great advocate for sharing your full authentic self in the physical and digital world. And it is that intention and admiration that is propelling me to begin sharing a seemingly disconnected array of articles and writings that I hope you will be able to relate to and draw lessons from or perhaps tell me how differently you see the subject matter. Rather than limiting myself to one of my interests, such as marketing and communications, I want to take you with me on the process of finding my voice – exploring what to talk about. I hope that through revealing some of my struggles, thoughts, and questions, we can reflect, talk, and learn together.

This leads me to my first article Speaking to Process. Respond in the comments or send me a DM with your thoughts.

Love this Sebastian?? as someone who has been creating content for 8 years, social media definitely tries to categorize us and put us in a specific niche, when in reality human beings are not made of one interest or personality trait, we are much more complex than that. Getting to know you as the marketing head was wonderful, excited to see where your journey takes you next!
