Pursuit of Equality

Pursuit of Equality

Happy International Women's Day !

I have always believed in cerebral equality—that a woman can do everything a man can and more. Women not only match men in intelligence, resilience, and ambition, but they also have the extraordinary ability to bring life into this world. As a mother, this belief is more than a principle; it is a responsibility—to raise my daughter knowing she is limitless.

At just four years old, my daughter won a Bhagavad Gita recitation competition, competing alongside boys and girls, proving that ability knows no gender. The platform was equal, and she thrived—just as it should always be.

While we, as parents, can provide opportunities, it is her effort and practice that will define her success. We are teaching her to chase excellence, not rewards, because true success lies in mastery, not medals. And had I been raising a son, I would have taught him the same.

I stand where I am today because of the people who shaped me. My parents raised me without limitations, trusting me, supporting me, and never letting societal norms dictate what I could or couldn’t achieve. Their belief in me became the foundation of my own strength.

And today, I am grateful for my husband, Nagachethan S M , who treats me as an equal partner, effortlessly shares responsibilities, and embraces true partnership, even enjoying the passenger seat while I drive, both literally and metaphorically. His quiet yet unwavering support is a reminder of what equality in action looks like.

Whatever my daughter chooses to be, we will remind her—there are no limits, only possibilities. And if she ever doubts herself, we will always be there to support and guide her.

This International Women’s Day, let’s not just celebrate women. Let’s raise them, empower them, and believe in them—until the day comes when we no longer need a day to remind the world of their worth.
