Pursuing a New Goal? Here's How to Keep It Challenging and Fun!

Ever felt drained on your path to new goals?

Who hasn't?

The journey to a goal is exactly that—a journey. The most important thing is to make this journey as enjoyable as possible. Are you with me?

Each day, whether it's a Monday or a Friday, can feel like a constant challenge. However, spending all day in front of a computer, thinking and rethinking, or dealing with rejections, won't help you perform at your best if these actions are filled with frustration.

A new goal, is a new beginning, and as such it comes with ups and downs. The smartest thing to do is to manage your energies.

Let's see how you can do this.

????When energies are up... Create momentum!????

Selam, one of my first clients, was a dentist who wanted to work in a high-end dental office in Paris, the kind that caters to very wealthy clients. Selam was an immigrant from the UK of Pakistani descent, with zero experience in France. But she had an incredible openness and truly intended to accomplish this high goal.

One of the things I recommended in order to create momentum, was that she go to the area where she wanted to work, dress as she would for work, stroll along the Champs-élysées, and have a coffee as if she were on her break.

I told her: "act as if".

And so she did for several days. Moreover, she told me she had a lot of fun!

What seemed incredible became believable in her mind, what her mind constructed with visualization she reinforced in reality while surrounding herself with what she wanted and having fun in the process. You can imagine the end of the story. On one of her walks, she saw a dental office, approached it, and coincidentally they were looking for a dentist, and she applied! After two interviews, Selam became a dentist in that high-end office, just as she wanted!

This is the result of the power of visualizing, combined with fun actions, to help you create a powerful momentum!

????When energies are down... Accept and re-boost????

Here I leave you some quick tips for a Daily Energy Booster:

  1. When you feel down: It's fine, it happens! Accept it, do not force things. Simply take a break, really, take a break!. Allow yourself to release the negative energies and thoughts that are blocking you. 5 minutes can change the energy of the entire day.
  2. Celebrate Small Successes with Gamification: Every productive meeting, every sale, a task completed means that you’re on the right track. But we take all these things for granted as they are "what you are supposed to do". Use these moments to empower yourself and boost your energy by giving yourself points or small prizes.
  3. Adopt power postures: Changing your physiology, such as improving your posture, breathing deeply, or moving, directly impacts your body chemistry. These actions activate the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress and immediately improving your emotional state. Your body influences your mind, helping you feel more calm and in control.

????For anything else... Don't take life so seriously!????

If you don't enjoy the ride, it does not make sense.

That said, would you like to have a cocktail?

Yes, let's create your happiness hormone cocktail!????????

Inspired by Loretta Grazziano Breuning's "Habits of a Happy Brain," here’s a simple recipe to maintain your well-being:

  • ??Oxytocin: Often called the "love hormone," oxytocin is associated with bonding, creating deeper connections with others, and increasing trust and empathy. Engaging in activities like playing with children, meeting with friends, or laughing can naturally elevate your oxytocin levels, enhancing your feelings of closeness and happiness.
  • ??Serotonin: This neurotransmitter is crucial for mood stabilization, feelings of well-being, and happiness. Serotonin levels can be boosted through diet, especially by eating foods rich in tryptophan (a serotonin precursor), such as salmon and eggs. Maintaining adequate serotonin levels helps improve confidence and overall mental health.
  • ??Dopamine: Known as the "feel-good" hormone, dopamine is related to pleasure, satisfaction, and motivation. It's released when we achieve something rewarding, making us feel accomplished and motivated. Celebrating every small victory, no matter how minor, can help keep dopamine levels up, encouraging continued productivity and satisfaction.
  • ??Endorphins: Endorphins are natural painkillers produced by the brain. They help alleviate pain and stress and are associated with a feeling of euphoria. Activities like eating chocolate, exercising, dancing, or watching a favourite movie can trigger endorphin release, helping you find pleasure in the little things and improving your overall well-being.

Having big goals doesn’t mean you have to forget about enjoying life.

Integrating moments of pleasure and celebration into your daily routine is not only possible but necessary.

Remember, we’re here to build a career that is not only successful but also conscious, fulfilling and joyful.

Are you up for it?
