Purposeless Vengeance by E.E. Cleveland

There is but one guarantee against destructive pride for black and white [and every other background], and that is a personal relationship with Christ. Men who fight God must fight each other. The very basis of all morality is love for God and man. A people without love are people without life. They are given over to purposeless vengeance. 

Have we come this far only to "get even" for past injustices? At most this policy can but destroy the nation for us all. For some, this may be enough. Only madmen, black or white, could find satisfaction in standing Tarzanlike on the ruins of the nation's cities thumping their chests in glee, boasting that they have taken vengeance one of the other. Yes, we can ruin it for each other, but is there time to build on the ruins? If so, what shall we build?
