PURPOSEFUL WORKPLACES

When purpose is ingrained into an organisation’s culture, it shifts the focus of employees to a greater cause, one which their contribution provides meaning and purpose that moves beyond themselves. This is powerful because as we know from years of research, human beings are hard-wired for connection and altruism.
A 2018 study showed that 83% of people in a range of occupations say finding meaning in work its a top priority and more than 50% of those people said they would take a lower-paying job for more meaning and a greater sense of purpose.
If there is one thing that the COVID crisis has taught us, it is the importance of Living Human, the precious nature of life, time and human connection.
"In over 14 years of consulting to the private sector, corporate and enterprise in every industry across Australia, the most common problem I see is burnout from Executives and Leaders AND the disengagement of employees just existing in their role. The reason I’ve found was that they lacked meaning and purpose in their work… money is not meaning. Money provides a lifestyle, but purpose and making a contribution provides meaning. This is why I have dedicated my life to connecting people with Purpose." Jennifer McMahon, CEO Modern People.
