The Purpose of a Shark Pillow
It isn't clutter if it has value. I bought my sister a shark pillow when she slept on a waterbed. To put this in a certain era: it was purchased at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It was an adornment; no one slept on the shark pillow.
It scared Precious the cat. She looked at it and ran in the opposite direction. She could be a Fraidy Cat at times. I shouldn't use that phrase. A man I know who was in a band joined that group after Fraidy Cat dissolved. He would say "Don't bring that up" so it was a bad breakup.
Why don't I know musicians anymore? Maybe I should get off LinkedIn and return to nightlife. Dwell time in nightclubs means a lot more than playing games or listening to podcasts. Instead of being invited to upgrade to Premium (if you pay full price) you could be invited to an afterparty or a VIP section. You never know where the night will take you.
None of which has to do with the shark pillow. I packed it up for a move, recalling how scared Precious was by it. This remained in a box and when I returned to the area it was part of the collection of material goods I possessed.
Sometimes I go through that and see what can be discarded. Never enough. In another generation my sister had children. They were fascinated by sharks. In 2020 when I could not see the children or enter their house (never forget how aggravating it was to have to socially distance from small children) I found the shark pillow.
It was doing nothing in a box in the closet. In the absence of spending time with an enjoyable family I decided to pass on this pillow. Let the new generation appreciate the shark pillow.
A purchase made while I made five dollars per hour paid dividends when I made a little more. Still not enough. The shark pillow is one of many items in my sister's son's room. It is a legacy and he seemed to like it.
I am not good at giving gifts for birthdays or Christmas. So many people were disappointed I more or less stopped participating in Christmas besides working long hours. Once in a while I find the right thing and it benefits someone in the future I could not have comprehended at the point of purchase.
