Purpose, Passion, Ikigai, Grit, Hope....
STUFF WHICH INSPIRES AND MOTIVATES ME……..
I spend a lot of time helping people. It’s my Ikigai
Ikigai is a concept that combines the Japanese terms iki, meaning “alive” or “life,” and gai, meaning “benefit” or “worth.” When combined, these terms mean that which gives your life worth, meaning, or purpose.
Helping people feel better, have more energy, more self-efficacy that’s my Ikigai. In some ways this surmounts in helping people flourish…….
What is the ultimate goal of human flourishing?
WHAT IS IT? Human flourishing is the ability to live a good life. Rooted in Aristotelian ethics, it values health intrinsically and applies universally to all human lives. Human flourishing embraces our shared humanity and serves everyone's interest.
This week I’ve seen 36 individuals for an hours consultation each… to do this, I need good levels of energy. I’ve also trained every day, cooked from scratch for my family and taken time to self-reflect and try to improve what I do for other people…..
All of this takes energy, a massive amount of energy. For this I need, good sleep, good exercise, excellent food and a really awesome supplement regime. (www.aminoman.com). ;)
In order to flourish you need hope, hope for a better future (this can be challenging)! Especially in the current World Environment……
I hope for a better future for the planet, for the animals on the planet and of course for the humans I’m lucky enough to be around and fortunate enough to be able to support… that’s my family and you too folks!
HOPE
The science of hope is to do with goal setting, something called agency and then ways, or pathways to achieve the favourable outcomes you have planned through your goal setting.
HOPE is a powerful virtue………
When we hope for something, when we want something to occur we need persistence and perseverance, this can be described sometimes as grittiness… or True Grit (great film)……
GRIT can be defined as:
AGENCY + PURPOSE + PASSION
Agency = intentionality, fore-thought, self-reactiveness, and self-reflection.

Agency also requires self-efficacy or self-belief.
What’s the one thing you do, which undermines your self-belief?

What’s one thing you can start doing which will build your self-belief?
A few ways to build self-efficacy around you doing something new or completing a new set of behaviour changes. The first, analyse or ideally talk to someone who has completed the outcome you desire. This is key. Sometimes talking to them, you may find you don’t want to do what they are doing after all.
If you still want to do this, then look at several scenarios where you’ve successfully completed an action. Past successes, or mastery experiences
Try to reduce the anxiety around the outcome…… this takes some practice and courage……..
"1. Mastery Experience. In other words, PAST SUCCESS. Small and big wins from the past are GREAT ways to boost your current confidence. Create those wins, feast on them as you build your self-image as someone who succeeds (“That’s like me!!), and bring those past mastery experiences to mind when you’re facing current challenges.
2. Vicarious Learning. In other words, seeing someone else achieve the success YOU would like to achieve. Basic idea here: If they can do it, YOU can do it. KNOW that. (Note: DO NOT get envious of their success. Celebrate it. And say, “If they can do it, I can do it.”)
3. Social Persuasion. In other words, someone tells you that you can achieve success. Like a coach. Or supportive parent or friend. Or ME. (Hah.) “YOU’VE GOT THIS!!!” You can also persuade yourself through positive self-talk and an antifragile, confident mindset. (And, remember to be the one persuading others of their potential!)
4. Physiology. In other words, if you want to succeed, ACT like a successful person. Walk, talk, breathe, and carry yourself as if you’ve already achieved that which you aspire to achieve. Presence-101 style. Strike a power pose and go rock it.
So… We have the Big 4 of Self-Efficacy: Mastery Experiences + Vicarious Learning + Social Persuasion + Physiology.
How’re YOU doing with each?"

So, a couple of things you can do to see about your purpose and passion today, right now if you are of the intention:
If there was no limit to you being successful in what you want to do, what would you do?
If you had all the money in the world, what would you be doing?
If you had 10 minutes to live, what would you do?
If you had 10 hours to live, what would you do?
10 Weeks?
10 months?
10 Years? This is where you build a 10 year plan………..
What are your goals, your intentions?
