The Purpose of my Posts
An inspirational place to write!

The Purpose of my Posts

I joined LinkedIn June 7th 2007 and I finally wrote and posted my first two articles just last week!

Finding my voice has been a long journey and a story I think might be helpful to share.

You see, for as long as I can remember, I’ve felt like I’ve had so much to gain from others…but I haven’t had anything to say. For 13 years, I’ve stayed quiet…secretly reading and learning from everyone else without a single morsel of desire to post anything of my own.

This mindset began to shift as I completed my first coaching course two years ago. I began noticing learnings in every day stories and then I began sharing those stories with others verbally in one on one conversations. I was telling stories to let others know me and trust me.

Then, over time, I felt a small desire to share my stories with others and I felt like I was really stuck in not being able to write the words that would give the story justice…stuck in trying to “get the words right” and I was still believing that if I didn’t get the words right, no one would want to read what I have to say!

You guys, I was REALLY stuck in this….stuck for months! It was like being in that dream where you have something to say, but the words just won’t come out and it wasn’t just a dream, it was more like a nightmare!

Funny thing is, even though I was terrified to write myself, I was not afraid to beg and pay other coaches to write FOR me. “Please, I’ll tell you my story and you can write it up into a beautiful story that other people will love to read and get value from”. I reached out to my friend Tara Lynn and begged her for at least the third time to please create some content with me!! I need help! Please!! Being the amazing coach that she is, she challenged me on what was holding me back from writing myself…she didn’t believe my story that I wasn’t a good writer.

And then…she helped me see the purpose in my writing.

For 13 years, I’d seen writing as a way to give information…share tips and value with others, but I still don’t feel like I have much information to share…so I can’t write for that purpose.

What I have to offer is a relationship. A coaching relationship where others can find and see their own values and amazing ideas. And I can’t offer that relationship without trust.

I don’t write to offer tips, ideas or best practices, I write to let others see me, to see more about me and what I value. I don’t write because I think the way I see things is the “right way” or a way that I’m suggesting anyone else should follow. I write for the selection of readers that feel a connection to what I write…I write for them as a way to offer them trust.

As a coach, I don’t feel responsible for teaching anything…I feel passionate about building trusting relationships where others can learn. My writing is the first step in that process to offer trust.

If this article resonates with you, I’d love to have a conversation and get to know you better. Please comment or send a private message and we’ll connect.

Wishing you all health and happiness!

Whaa? You've been holding out for so long! Thank you for breaking your silence, and writing your posts. And I'm sure there are even more people out there than you may think who are going to find a connection with you. :)
