PICTURE OF THE WEEK - #RIVER
POST OF THE WEEK - #MAZING
In the tangled maze of life, try to be with people that you love and who love you. There will be dead-ends. There will be frustrations. You may get separated. You will sometimes feel alone. But you will not be alone. Somewhere in the maze will be people who care. You will be surprised, discovering new things just around the bend. You cannot control the maze or predict its twists and turns. You can only move into the open spaces. And if your decisions lead you astray, you can always retrace your steps and try again. Life is amazing.

PODCAST OF THE WEEK - CARING: THE PROMISE OF THE ELEPHANT
What if, in business, Lion was no longer king? What if Elephant was king (or queen) once more? For, according to the theme of this podcast, in the corporate bushveld of the future where social equity and environmental sustainability are the watchwords of society, Elephant has all the right characteristics to be the leader. Elephants are the epitome of sustainability. They have shown themselves to be supreme survivors and masters at adapting; the elephant’s relationship to other species and nature is highly cooperative and symbiotic; elephants’ awesome size and strength inspires respect and admiration.
POEM OF THE WEEK - AFRICAN FLAME
You are the first spark that kindles the fire / That nurtures our daring and restless desire / On journeys across the wilderness plain / You light up the way: our African flame
You are the red bloom that graces the tree / That rises from ash, a wonder to see / In nature resplendent, we honour your name / You burn with great beauty: our African flame
You are the fierce blaze that forges the soul / That touches the sky and makes the earth whole / Through hardship and toil, in fortune and fame / You burn with great faith: our African flame

You are the hot coal that glows in the night / That gives us the strength to stand up and fight / Deep passion’s a fire nobody can tame / You burn with great hope: our African flame
You are the warm light that keeps off the cold / That cradles our dreams and stories of old / Together in strength, diverse and the same / You burn with great love: our African flame
You are the enigma that flickers with heat / That dances with drums in sync to the beat / With colours that shine, with stars in your aim / You brighten the world: our African flame.
BOOK OF THE WEEK - THE QUEST FOR SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS
In 2010, I set off on a 20-country “quest” to talk to entrepreneurs, business leaders and innovators and learn about how companies in all parts of the world can and are helping to tackle the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems. The result is this treasure trove of a book, full of stories, ideas, extracts from more than 100 interviews, best practices and tools for making sustainable business work in a myriad of different contexts, cultures and settings. Besides sharing insights from my 2010 “CSR Quest World Tour”, I capture my professional experiences and the evolution of sustainable business over the previous 20 years.
