"Purpose Driven Leadership", Dr. Clayton Wilcox
Leaders often try to inspire team members with lofty statements of service. Without realizing what truly inspires others is more often than not - the work. If having motivated, focused and engaged team members is a goal of any leader then focusing on connections between purpose -tasks and outcomes has to become the real work of the leader. This doesn’t mean leaders must micromanage every task or every step in the process – what it does mean is that today’s most successful leaders make certain that every team member understands how the organizations purpose relates to the tasks and duties that must be accomplished.
Great leaders optimize the organizations effectiveness through a relentless retelling of the purpose of the work to be done .
