The mission is to change the way mobile users interact with retail stores. As he puts it in simple words, “The retail industry has assisted over 14 crore people and it is now time to take these stores to the next level”. Akhilesh is creating a community/marketplace to connect users with retail stores. They will soon be kicking off their pre-launch promotion, which will be available for a limited time only. According to him, “If you own a retail store chain or even a single location, your presence on the platform will enable you to reach more customers and engage with your target audience, allowing you to stand out from the crowd."
Akhilesh tells us that he has liked to experiment since his childhood, in terms of jobs also, he juggled many hats. He was into technology first and then he moved to project management, sales, and later into marketing. “I always knew I would build something that helps people solve problems”, says Akhilesh. He realized he wanted to empower such sellers. With the current options that they had, Akhilesh wanted to explore them and create a solution for them. He then started to talk to multiple retail stores and that is how primarily he came up with a solution that is made specifically for retail stores. He knew what had to be done to increase their visibility, and digital outreach and increase both online and offline sales.?
Akhilesh started his journey in 2020 with his co-founder. They knew that there would be a lot that could be done in this space and it would really help people. “With very limited technical experience, it was a pretty difficult challenge, finding the right person to build the technology for us." They had other challenges as well, but today they are proud to have an application live and on the google play store.?
Talking about his journey with a co-founder, Akhilesh says it is really essential to have a co-founder because this journey gets lonely and tough sometimes and they've seen it up front as well. A lot of people have faced failure in their startup’s journey as sometimes it gets too lonely without any co-founder and also the co-founder can also make you realize your mistakes and adds a lot of value because you kind of really just understand that you why the business is failing, and what can be done to prevent or upscale the business.?

Competition according to Akhilesh should not be undermined. Purple Toko has a fair amount of competitors. He thinks, that one of the competitive advantages that anybody can have is a good innovation pipeline to execute, not just doing everything in the first step, keeping some of those cards in your hand too, and probably get into play later, that differentiates you even further. The competition does face challenges too, but there's definitely competition all around.
As he is a young entrepreneur, he would like to advise the early-stage founders. He advises young entrepreneurs to a lot of people because regardless of where they're coming from, they're going to have some input for you. It's their perspective that is important, sometimes finding the right people to call up when you need help regarding a small or a large decision is essential. Having those people also is very important for building good relationships and that comes most handy. Be talkative and listen to all advice you get!
