Pure Storage

I had an experience a while back with Pure Storage that is noteworthy. During an upgrade of some neighboring hardware, the power to a drive shelf was lost. I was dreading the disaster this would be as now fully half of our VM's had just lost all SAN storage. Amazingly, when the power was restored, everything was fine. This has never happened to me before, to lose power to an essential system and as soon as power has been restored nothing more need be done. Our conclusion was that the Pure noticed the shelf loss immediately and via its API connection to vCenter informed VMware to simply 'pause' all VM's using the missing storage. As soon as it was back online, the VM's were back in business.
