Purchasing with Principles Not Price Tags

Purchasing with Principles Not Price Tags

I grew up solidly middle class. As kids, my little brother and I were safe and well-fed but not spoiled. (And I am supremely grateful for that. Thanks, mom and dad!)

When we wanted something, my parents always asked, "How much is it? What does it cost?" I learned at an early age that the price tag was the defining factor of whether or not I could have what I wanted.

I carried that paradigm into adulthood. Even when I began earning six figures in my early 30s, I still made my purchase decisions based on the price tag.

That began to change as I discovered how rampant consumerism and the pursuit of "the cheapest at all costs" hurts people and the planet. I got serious about recycling and avoiding fast fashion that exploits workers in other countries.

I started purchasing with my principles rather than price tags.

I'm now willing to pay more for...

  • Cleaning supplies that rely on the power of essential oils rather than harmful chemicals
  • Classic clothing and handbags made by companies that pay their workers a fair wage
  • Bamboo toilet paper that's both soft and sustainable
  • Handcrafted jewelry made by female entrepreneurs
  • Cosmetics that are clean and cruelty-free

It's hard to do things like this consistently if you're struggling with money. It hurts your soul if you want to support companies committed to preserving the planet and taking good care of the people they employ, but your bank account says NO.

One of the benefits of being wealthy is that you're no longer held hostage by price tags.

You can buy exactly what you want from people and companies that align with your values.

One of the tenets of the Wealthy Woman Book Club? is that "We’re creating a future where we purchase with our principles rather than price tags."

I believe that wealthy women will use the power of money to benefit people and the planet. Women are wired to be generous , which is why I am passionate about creating legions of wealthy women as my legacy!

P.S. You don't have to be a wealthy woman (yet!) to join us in the Wealthy Woman Book Club? . We'd be honored to have you as a member.

Love this

Christine M Luken - Yes, it is wonderful not to be tied down by price tags but to purchase as your heart desires. I love using values as a filter for purchases!
