Punjabi FM? (working name)

Notes for a cost effective, highly competitive and clutter-breaking FM Radio Station Format for Delhi. It is based on research but also a gut feel that says this genre of music is a hugely missed opportunity in Delhi. 

TARGET: 18-30 M/F

MUSIC: All songs are in the Punjabi genre. They could be in any language or dialect but mainly Hindi and Punjabi. Could also be pop songs or film songs as long as they are in or related to the Punjabi genre. Song selection is done by quantifiable research.

• A List - 7 or less songs, none older than 2 months

• B List - 23 or there about, between 1 and 6 months old

• C List - 70 songs roughly, between 3 months to 5 years

• X List - 10 floating songs of any era older than 3 years

TALK:

• Morning and Evening Show - 15 mins an hour, Delhi street Hindi / Punjabi mix, 100% live and interactive, youth, Delhi and pop culture, smart informed witty presenter, interviews with Punjabi music stars, contests to win music and app downloads, no traffic or news or Bollywood or anything dull

• Rest of the day - 3 mins an hour, only announce songs and promote morning and evening programming

Thats it… Its a really simple consistent station some will never ever tune in to but for the many who do, they will never tune out.

There’s a whole format docket with clocks and rotations and budgets and schedules and rules and other radio programming tom foolery but this is enough to get the idea.
