Punctuation?
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINk.
I don't know whom to blame, but whoever decided to introduce punctuation into English probably died laughing. Plotting and creating characters is exciting. Writing the story gets one caught up in the drama of it all. It's a beautiful feeling when you look at the finished manuscript. Those feelings disappear quickly when you start to edit yourself or when an editor returns the manuscript. You start making corrections and alterations, and before you know it, you wish to hell you are finished and can get on with the next plot. I'm more or less finished the first of my trilogy, and the excitement will return on the day it is published. And then - off we go again with the second book. It would be great if all I had to do were check the spelling. Some writers love the whole process of creating and editing - Why? If you are a writer, perhaps you can enlighten me (diplomatically) as to why you like or don't mind editing. I don't want to hear a remark like, "Learn to punctuate correctly, and you won't have to do it." I don't care who you are. Not one manuscript has ever existed that did not need editing for punctuation. Do we require punctuation? I can understand a story with no punctuation, so why not forget editing? Let me know what you think.
