India Successfully Launches Sun Observatory

ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C57) successfully launched the Aditya-L1 spacecraft. Aditya-L1 is the first Indian space based observatory to study the Sun from a halo orbit. Aditya-L1 carries seven scientific payloads indigenously developed by ISRO and national research laboratories.

ReOrbit?has completed an oversubscribed Seed funding round for US $7.4 million. The funding round was led by Inventure VC, along with participation from 10xFounders, existing investor Icebreaker.vc, Expansion, and YesVC. ReOrbit enables real-time dataflow in space and provides Earth observation and SatCom operators with flight software, satellite platforms, and complete systems.

Terran Orbital announced a new lineup of seven standard satellite bus platforms. The seven bus platforms span the nano, micro, mini, and small classes. The platforms feature flexible architecture using common building blocks, allowing for wet launch masses of 14 to 1000 kg.

Vodafone and Amazon’s Project Kuiper to Extend Connectivity in Africa and Europe


Vodafone and Vodacom plan to use Project Kuiper’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation to extend the reach of their 4G/5G networks. Companies plan to participate in beta testing of Project Kuiper service in 2024.

Karista and Eutelsat Communications announced a new strategic partnership which will see Eutelsat become a new subscriber to the venture capital firm’s Spacetech fund. For Eutelsat, the new partnership consolidates its existing close ties with the industry’s innovative start-ups. Karista’s Spacetech fund has backed young French and European companies involved in the Spacetech revolution, with seed/series A investments ranging between €1 million and €5 million.

Redwire Corporation has successfully 3D bioprinted the first human knee meniscus on orbit on the International Space Station. This milestone opens the door to improved treatments for meniscal injuries, one of the most common injuries for U.S. Service Members. The upcoming SpaceX CRS-29 resupply mission in November will include Redwire’s experiment in bioprinting cardiac tissue.
