How Does pulse oximeter works:
Pulse oximeter shines a light through your finger and by doing so it can measure the amount of oxygen. This light creates a wavelength and that wavelength determines the difference between the oxygenated blood and the deoxygented blood. The finger clip of pulse oxymeter consists of a transmitting light sources that emits a spectrum of a light and on the other side there is a receiver that means how much light pass through the finger, the diode on the receiving end is capable the wave length of light. The internal circuits and processing components of pulse oximeter do some calculations as well that is because device has compensate for ambient light. The device has a reference curve that is saved into a it's memory and it uses this as a way to calibrate memory reading and to normalize then that you can get an accurate reading and it helps to increase the procession of the results.
What does Pulse Oximeter measure: Pulse oximeter measure the oxygen saturation in the blood and it give heart rate. Preciously the amount of oxygen that is being carried by hemoglobin and this reading is known as SPO2.
How Use Pulse Oximeter: Before inventing pulse oximeter doctors had draw blood from the patient and perform several tests in order to find out the percentage of oxygen saturation now we can get reading in a matter of seconds by using pulse oxymeter.
There is finger clip in the pulse oximeter, patient should put hand in the hand clip after putting hand in hand clip and after the turn on the device it will show the reading within a matter of second. To get realistic reading patient should minimize their movement as much as possible and also patient should not wear nail polsih.
