Pull the Audience, Don't Push the Content

But businesses tend to overlook the importance of content marketing. They hastily jump into copywriting with unclear messaging, worry about quick hacks but forget the fundamental content pillars, and often neglect research for content ideas, instead opting to mimic their competitors’ formats. In doing so, they skip 90% of the process.

The harsh truth is that they don’t truly value content. They perceive it as a mere combination of texts and images that anyone can create. This belief leads to irrational behaviors such as rushing for AI solutions, aiming for viral posts for quick buzz, and expecting immediate ROI from a single video.

The results? Predictably disappointing:

  • The Business becomes a commodity
  • The Team lacks direction
  • The Audience fails to understand the messages

The common refrain I hear is, “We’ve tried content, it doesn’t work for us”. My response? “You’ve not tried properly on 3 layers”:

1?? Content Strategy Layer: Start with your audience’s problems and motivations. Understand WHY and HOW they buy to produce the right content.

2?? Content Plan Layer: Once you know your audience, plan your content. Don’t think “what should we create?”, think “what do they need to see?”.

3?? Content Creation Layer: Combine strategy and SKILLS to create good content. Find good copywriters, designers, and video editors. Respect their work.
